A Day I Wouldn’t Forget

It was the morning of January 9, 1999. The day I had waited for my entire life. My dream was becoming reality before my very eyes. My loving sister got up early with me and we headed over to get my hair and make-up done…not even a rooster had crowed yet. But you see, my life was about to change. I knew for the better for I was marrying my favorite guy…my best friend. Little did I know how God would change my life in more ways than one that day. He was going to change me from the inside out, to look more like His Son through this refining process called: marriage.

Definition of Marriage

The online dictionary defines marriage as: “the legally or formally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal relationship.”

One of the words that stood out to me in that definition was union. What is a union anyway, besides a train station in Toronto? I love some of the synonyms found in the online dictionary: amalgamation, combination, synthesis, blending.

Cooking is something I have come to enjoy…well specifically I like to bake, so inevitably I need to get out my food processor and blend something together. What happens when you blend ingredients? That’s right: they become one. The many different ingredients you put in as separate entities, have now been amalgamated (another word used to describe union) into one delicious creation. It may still need a little more work to make it a finished product, but the union has been completed through the blending process.

It’s the same in our marriage relationships. So often, we are trying to still live our lives separately, yet co-existing. It doesn’t work. We have to realize that when God created us to be united in marriage, He meant for us to not just co-exist but to become amalgamated together…combined, synthesized into one beautiful, blended creation: ONE.

Working Together

Just as in marriage, we are to be one with the Lord Jesus. He created us for Him and His glory. When we try to do life autonomously, we miss out on the fullness of life we could have had. We miss out on bringing God glory through every aspect of our life.

John 17:3 says: “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

That word “know” is the same word used for the intimacy between a man and wife. So, God wants to have that kind of intimacy with us…a closeness…a oneness with us, His bride.

Ephesians 5:31-32: “FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH. This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.”

Being One With the Lord

Are you one with Him? Do you give Him the first part of your day or your sloppy seconds and thirds? Are you giving Him the time where you are more easily distracted? This is something I am still growing in, but long to be consistent with, in every area of my life. These days are becoming more and more evil and thus more and more people are being deceived with lies that are being taught all over the place. Knowing the truth of God’s Word and living in a place of total submission and surrender to Him are paramount to living in oneness and unity with Him in every area of our lives.

Truth: How Important is Truth Anyway?

The Power of Truth

Hey everyone. I hope you are well. Welcome to this discussion. We wanted to have a place where we could share with you things that have changed us with the understanding of them. The truth is so powerful…life changing even and so we wanted to share some of what the Lord challenges and encourages us with on a regular basis in hopes that it might both challenge and encourage you…but mostly …leave you knowing Christ better …and looking more like Jesus …and able to pass the favor along to others.

So, with this in mind…let’s start with something that impacted me today while talking with a friend of mine that I love to “dig” …and share with…the truth.

My friend and I were talking about how so much of what we as people believe is what is called utilitarian in nature.

I mean… we believe this or do not believe that because of what it will mean for us if we do or do not.

Put another way…when the price tag is too high or even might be too high …we find ourselves running from it …or fighting against it…vehemently.  My question that I ask myself is … “..but…what is the actual truth – shouldn’t that matter?”

You see our approach is somewhat hypocritical – please let me show you what I mean.  If we have a disease…we want to know…right?  If the investment we are about to “bet the farm on” is a “Ponzi scheme” we want to know right?

What if someone was going to babysit our children… apply to a job posting we setup…or if someone had weather information before a big trip…even bad news …we would want the truth …wouldn’t we?

This is why I believe our approach to the truth is hypocritical…or at least selfish in its “selectiveness.”

So today I thought… “Well… let me start with me then.”

“What do I believe…why do I believe it…how do I ascertain the validity of that belief?  How do I maintain the honesty of my decision processes on what I accept or reject…or procrastinate on deciding on?”

I wonder if it has got to do with first being honest with what is important to me and why?

Perhaps we need to go to the one person Who cannot stand anything about “lie” or any form of dishonesty.

Would it not be best to go to the One Who is utterly and completely accurate in everything He says or does…and to ask for His help in understanding ourselves and Him. Why don’t we ask Him for help becoming more like His Son in honesty.

Could this be one of the reasons why He has sent us a Helper…called the Spirit Of Truth Whose…job …well…part of His job… is to guide us into all truth?

Why do we need this? We need Him to help because we “see through a glass darkly” …and know and see only “in part” …our thoughts and ways are corruptible and so are inferior (at our most brilliant) to God’s own person…

Our lives are a product of what we think and believe inside. It is how we live out our salvation and how we experience life. When all of what I have just said is true of us.

Perhaps we should not trust our own thoughts …”guestimations” …and excuses or philosophies so implicitly… and perhaps ask for help from the Lord , Who’s very intentions are to give hope and a future…to give us the truth about…well…. everything…and to help us be honest with ourselves…and to value the truth about Him …life.

If we do …maybe we will see the purpose of our existence more clearly…the things prepared in advance for us to do…and we will walk in that which is so much better than we could facilitate for ourselves in our selfish moments…and within our brokenness and we might be free…whole…and fulfilling destiny as we were redeemed to live…filled with the love that is God… rejoicing with the truth.

Question: Why don’t we… why don’t you…start…. right now?

GLITCHES

We had some glitches with our website so had to start from the beginning again. If you had followed us before we apologize for our disappearance, but we are back! We are excited about the next chapter of “In Him All Things” and all God is going to do. He is so faithful! He shows up big for all to see! Psalm 19 says it best as to what is the truth of Who God is…may your hearts be blessed as you are reminded of His truths:

PSALM 19

“The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; Their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their utterances to the end of the world. Continue reading “Beginning Anew”
